  • Bank of the Ozarks
Service. Sure, everyone talks about good customer service, but when was the last time you experienced superior customer service at your bank? In today's market with lots of mergers and name changes Bank of the Ozarks continues to provide excellent service through local bankers serving local people. We're not the biggest bank in Arkansas, but we're working hard to be the best in the communities we serve.
Deposits. Talk to other customers or ask our competitors and you will find that we are well known for being very aggressive on deposit yields. We know that deposits are a price sensitive item and you should expect a consistent, competitive return. Over time, our yields and superior service are hard to beat.
Loans. You will find we make loan decisions locally and quickly. Your loan request is handled by the banker you talk to, not some faceless committee in another state. And our rates can compete with anyone. We believe, you will like the way we do business -- one-on-one.

  • First National Bank of Fort Smith
The First National Bank of Fort Smith was organized February 29, 1872, as "The National Bank of Western Arkansas." A charter was issued by the Comptroller of the Currency, authorizing the bank to commence business on March 22,1872.
The history of Fort Smith is largely the story of the First National Bank. The history of any town is but a record of the achievement of its people. While Fort Smith was founded in 1817, it was not until 1872, the date of the organization of this bank, that the town began to assume a position in the commercial world. The bank was established by Bernard Baer, Logan H. Roots, Richard C. Kerens, Elis S. Mitchell, Dr. E. R.. Duvall, and Arthur Gunther, men familiar with the conditions confronting the town, and with faith in its possibilities and its future. The first large industrial plant to be organized was promoted largely by Bernard Baer and Logan H. Roots, the principal officers and stockholders of the bank. This was the Fort Smith Oil and Cotton Company. Shortly thereafter, Samuel McLoud, George T. Sparks, and James Vaile, who had become identified as Directors in the bank, organized the first large furniture factory to be established here under the firm name of McLoud, Vaile and Sparks.
