- First Michigan Bank
On the morning of October 12, 1907, C.J. Walker watched closely as a half million dollars
in gold was transferred from an express train to his wagon. The chief of police nervously
cradled his shotgun and scanned the Long Beach station at Second and Pacific. Then Walker
snapped the reins and the horse-drawn wagon drew the load of coins and bars up the road.
Armed with honesty, integrity and more than enough gold to pay off all the depositors,
Walker stopped the run. In just six weeks, however, he resigned the presidency when the
Los Angeles owners of First National began issuing directives which he felt were no longer
in the best interests of the community.

- Metrobank
Mission Statement:
"Metrobank's mission is to profitably provide quality financial products to those who
seek relationship banking and who value exceptional customer service."
Metrobank History:
Metrobank traces its origins to Metropolitan National Bank of Farmington, which opened its
doors in Downtown Farmington on January 18, 1963. The bank was established by local
businessmen who felt that the available banking services and facilities did not meet the
needs of the community.
For more than 40 years, Metrobank has been proud of its commitment as a local,
community-oriented financial institution. That commitment extends to providing our
customers with a wide variety of quality Loan and Deposit products, as well as a high
level of service. Our strategy of operating and growing in a well-defined market area
enhances our position of community and customer dedication.
Assets today total over $145 million dollars, with over 70 employees and four office
locations to serve you. The ability to make decisions locally, plus excellent customer
service has been instrumental in the growth of Metrobank.

- Northern Michigan Bank
The year was 1892 and several important events took place in our country. The Union added
the 44th State called Wyoming, the industrial revolution witnessed the patent on a petrol
engine designed by Rudolf Diesel, a new President of the United States was elected with
the ticket of Grover Cleveland and Adlai Stevenson and a bank called the Bank of Escanaba
opened for business.
Today, the Bank of Escanaba is the Northern Michigan Bank & Trust with offices in
eight locations throughout the Central Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
In 1971, Northern Michigan Bank & Trust formed the first one bank holding company in
the Upper Peninsula. On May 1, 1974, Northern Michigan Corporation opened a new State Bank
in Marquette and on April 23, 1975 they received permission to open yet another State Bank
in the City of Kingsford.
Although our bank officers no longer wear bowler hats and sport splendid gold watch fobs,
they take just as meticulous care with your money as their predecessors did with your
great-grandfather's.
Few people remember the achievements of the Cleveland administration, but Northern
Michigan & Trust, whether in any of our eight locations, will always carry the
tradition of service, strength, and financial security.
